What does OEKO-TEX®certification mean?

You probably have heard of OEKO-TEX® frequently mentioned as a selling point of textile products. What does it really mean, though?

In 90s the concern for harmful chemicals used in textile fabrics grew and a global safety standard was developed in Europe. This is how the independent OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification was established. Its requirements are updated at least once a year based on new scientific information. This makes OEKO-TEX® one of the most reliable textile certifications, recognized globally.

Moreover, an OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 label guarantees that fabrics have been checked at each production stage for any harmful chemicals. Therefore, the final result is a high quality product free of toxic agents.

The certificate is awarded after careful testing and examination of all the substances contained in the product. This means that not only textiles are tested but also small attachments like printed labels, buttons etc.

At Bed Couture we do our best to ensure our products meet the highest standards and are completely safe to use. Rest assured knowing that Bed Couture sheets are made from certified fabrics and are kind to your skin.
